چکیده

The numerical modeling of sediment transport under wave impact is challenging because the complex nature triple wave–structure–sediment interaction. This study presents three-dimensional scouring due to non-breaking on a vertical seawall. Navier–Stokes–Exner equations are approximated calculate full evolution flow fields and morphodynamic responses. bed erosion model based van Rijn formulation with mass-conservative sand-slide algorithm. solution obtained by using projection method fully implicit second-order unstructured finite-volume in σ-coordinate computational domain. coordinate system employed accurately represent free-surface elevation sediment/water interface evolution. Experimental results velocity field, surface motion, scour hole formation used compare demonstrate proposed method’s capabilities seawall scour.

Solution of Wave Equations Near Seawalls by Finite Element Method

A 2D finite element model for the solution of wave equations is developed. The fluid is considered as incompressible and irrotational. This is a difficult mathematical problem to solve numerically as well as analytically because the condition of the dynamic boundary (Bernoulli’s equation) on the free surface is not fixed and varies with time. The finite element technique is applied to solve non...

Bridge Bed Strengthening, Disaster Prevention due to Scouring

One of the most important factors in determining the depth of foundations in structures adjacent to the water flow is the scouring phenomenon; the scouring is a phenomenon caused by the interactions between water flow and erodible bed materials, which causes the removal of sediments where hydraulic structures are located, including bridge piers. Every year, a great number of bridges are damaged...

Spectral (Finite) Volume Method forConservation Laws on Unstructured GridsBasic Formulation

A high-order, conservative, yet efficient method named the spectral volume (SV) method is developed for conservation laws on unstructured grids. The concept of a “spectral volume” is introduced to achieve high-order accuracy in an efficient manner similar to spectral element and multidomain spectral methods. Each spectral volume is further subdivided into control volumes, and cell-averaged data...

SPE 163649: The Multiscale Finite Volume Method on Unstructured Grids

Finding a pressure solution for large-scale reservoirs that takes into account fine-scale heterogeneities can be very computationally intensive. One way of reducing the workload is to employ multiscale methods that capture local geological variations using a set of reusable basis functions. One of these methods, the multiscale finite-volume (MsFV) method is well studied for 2D Cartesian grids, ...
